Philadelphia's Dr. Dog return with another album of 70s inspired, indie-rock tunes, but this time they are on Anti Records and called in some help from producer Rob Schnapf (who has worked with both Beck and Elliott Smith). Allegedly, the band has scaled back some of the arrangements and layers that were featured on 2008's "Fate." This could either be accepted or shunned by Dr. Dog's increasing fanbase. With the change of both sound and label there are still some gems here, "Someday" and the album's title track "Shame, Shame" are both a throw back to the band's usual harmony-laden, classic sound. Fans of the Band, She & Him, and even The Dutchess & the Duke should enjoy these songs.
