Off the heels of WHISKEYTOWN'S dazzling swansong, "Pneumonia", RYAN ADAMS continues his rock'n'tonk folk pop that obviously brings comparisons to the keeper of the throne, JEFF TWEEDY & WILCO. But RYAN stands on his own. Throwing in an elevation of songwriting with a laidback and solemn downhome instrumentation, he recalls elements of THE BAND, VAN MORRISON and even some ELTON JOHN. This is the second reissue of cassette releases from the prolific New Zealand band AXEMEN. "Scary Pt. III" was originally released in 1989 & sounds remarkably fresh today. The album starts off with a warbly & disturbedly slow take on blues rock that sounds like early ROYAL TRUX on even more drugs. These 80's cassette records definitely have their on vibe & the hissing presence works really well for these songs. There's some experimental leanings here to with some interesting loops & ambient recordings. We're assuming that this is limited edition like the first reissue. Amazing stuff.

English singer-songwriter NATASHA KHAN has released an orchestrated and moody gaggle of songs on "Fur & Gold." Between the theremin, strings, and "sleepy-time" vocals, this album is a moving complilation of art-folk tales that toes the line of being too sensitive, but is often redeemed. Redemption is found in the many instruments, and arrangements, but ultimately it is the sincerity of the material that wins you over. There is a pretty nice cover of BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN's "I'm On Fire." For fans of JOANNA NEWSOM, COCOROSIE, or KATE BUSH.

"Jive Talkin" rhythm initially inspired by the beat of the car tires across the bridge to the studio not spandex. Produced by legendary soul producer Arif Mardin (Aretha Franklin) and contains "Nights on broadway" as well as the hit mentioned above. NOT DISCO!
