Reckless Records is a group of three record stores in Chicago IL. We carry new & used CDs, DVDs games and loads of Vinyl. Originally started in London, our first Chicago location opened in 1989. (LPs & 7"s). We would love to have you visit us in person. We are always looking to buy your unwanted CDs, DVDs, and vinyl. Please get in touch if you are interested in selling your collections. In the 60's, it wasn't uncommon for bands like say THE BEATLES to release three albums in one year, nowadays, most bands are lucky if they release one album in three years. This is the fourth DEERHUNTER related release in the past year (including LOTUS PLAZA) & the band shows no sign of slowing up. The e.p. is mostly upbeat with early 90's Brit-pop isms & overblown, 60's girl group production. This is a logical exclusion to "Microcastle" & if they had released "Microcastle" as a boxset like RADIOHEAD did with "In Rainbows" this would be equivalent to the bonus disc included in that set. Heavily orchestrated west coast pop with hints of drugged-out beats, like a NANCY SINATRA on opium, or MAZZY STAR with more references to Grand Theft Auto. Denny's late-'50s exotica records had established him as a name to reckon with in bachelor pad circles, but were only good for a limited stretch. on this release at least, one hears bits of his earlier South Seas and Hawaiian backdrops in the bongo accompaniment and occasionalleftfield percussion accent.
