About Us:

Reckless Records is a group of three record stores in Chicago IL. We carry new & used CDs, DVDs games and loads of Vinyl. Originally started in London, our first Chicago location opened in 1988. (LPs & 7"s). We would love to have you visit us in person.

We are always looking to buy your unwanted CDs, DVDs, and vinyl. Please get in touch if you are interested in selling your collections. We buy at all locations every day up to an hour before closing time.

International Anthem
Chicago's improvisational jazz scene has flourished in the last few years - in large part due to its advocacy on Int'l Anthem, a Chicago-based label responsible for carrying the scene's prominent releases and giving them a wider exposure outside of the city. As improvisation, performance is perhaps THE central element to this music. Artists such as MAKAYA McCRAVEN, JAIMIE BRANCH, and IRREVERSIBLE ENTANGLEMENTS rely on the energy of the stage and the symbiotic relationship between the performer and audience to create their albums. This has never more clear than here, on DAMON LOCKS' project "Where Future Unfolds". Starting as a sound collage with Civil Rights Era speeches and a drum machine, it has expanded to include the BLACK MONUMENT ENSEMBLE of musicians, choir singers and dancers, all in expression of the struggle for racial and class empowerment, all unified by time. Recorded at Garfield Park Conservatory during their debut performance, "Where Future Unfolds" is soul-jazz theater. It's dizzying, free and yet tied seamlessly together by its central theme. CANNOT BE MORE RECOMMENDED!!!

LIVANSKIY, KEDR Your Need (ltd. Yellow Vinyl)

We're big fans of the Moscow based DJ & electronic musician Kedr Livanskiy & this is her second full length. With help from the Russian producer Flaty, Livanskiy has expanded & cleaned up her sound. Her previous releases were pretty lo-fi & that quality almost defined her sound but it's cool to hear that she can still make interesting songs when everything is crisp & clear. Like her other records, Livanskiy sings in Russian so there's still a little mystery for us. With hints of BJORK's early productions & 2MR label mate & former Chicagoan & friend of the store GEL SET, Kedr Livanskiy is making some of our favorite pop-leaning dance music right now. RECOMMENDED.
