2010 album from the James Mercer (SHINS) and Danger Mouse (GNARLS BARKLEY) collaboration, and featuring the best of both of their respective worlds. Poignant and beautiful songs with Mercer's expressive falsetto with varied and quirky orchestration by Danger Mouse (the only guy that could sneak in an 8-bit keyboard loop and get away with it). There are promises of more music from this pair, so while this may not be a one-off, you should check it out now - who knows when you might hear an album this good?

Composer Daniele Luppi & producer DANGER MOUSE combine for this 'soundtrack for a movie that doesn't exist' aka 'Rome.' The music is cleary inspired by 60's movie soundtracks & we hear hints of David Axelrod in there too. The duo brought in Jack White & Norah Jones for vocal duties & they compliment the music perfectly. Some of the production reminds us a little of the 90's lounge revival ala groups like AIR mixed with that 60's sound we mentioned earlier.

Following in the storied lineage of great MC/Producer team-ups like 'Madvillainy' & 'Twelve Reasons To Die,' 'Cheat Codes' is a fantastic joint effort from DANGER MOUSE & THE ROOTS' BLACK THOUGHT. After a few years in the proverbial Late Night TV slash MOR wilderness, both artists up their already elevated game even higher here. The guest list is stacked - RAEKWON, A$AP ROCKY, RUN THE JEWELS, Chicago's KID SISTER and more, plus an incredible MF DOOM verse from beyond the grave - but the coolest moments involve just hearing Thought go HARD in the pocket of some of Danger Mouse's best material since 'Demon Days.' This is a tightly focused, wildly entertaining collab between two master craftsmen. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
