these guys have channeled the best elements of 70's snotty punk rock ala RICHARD HELL, TELEVISION, MODERN LOVERS, ROLLING STONES etc...Forget post rock kids (maybe you already have) Chicago is a garage/punk rock town now. Totally essential album that you should be buying instead of reading this.

It's interesting that Chicago's own MANNEQUIN MEN picked four 'imposters' to pose naked on the record cover hiding their identities with masks depicting the band members' faces. Perhaps it's because the band realized that they bared everything of themselves musically on this very solid third album. The band is known for their rowdy & drunken performances but their sound on the record is surprisingly restrained with a focus on strong song writing, melodic & raspy vocal performances with catchy 'gang' style backing vocals. This album is fun & makes us think of early REPLACEMENTS, a more rambunctious ONLY ONES with similarities to bands like THE CLASH & BLACK LIPS as well. Do yourself a favor & check out this album by one of Chicago's best rock bands.
