Here it is, the much anticipated collaboration between avant crooner Scott Walker & the masters of heavy drone, SUNN O))). In many ways, this is probably exactly what we thought it would sound like, just not as intense. Then again, the fact that the rhythmic bull-whip crack on the opener "Brando" didn't even phase us or seem surprising goes to show how Walker has expanded our expectations over the past few albums. (Actually, the random SLASH-like guitar leads on that track were more shocking!!). AT 71, Walker's voice still sounds powerful & it loom large over the drone bed that SUNN O))) have provided for it. This is a slam dunk for fans of Walker's past 20 years, SUNN O))) in general & the rest of you that just like to be amused by your music.
