REMIND ME TOMORROW
Jagjaguwar
"Remind Me Tomorrow" is the highly anticipated 5th album from one of the best modern singer/songwriters, Sharon Van Etten. Over the past few years, Van Etten went back to school & had a baby & these experiences have obviously pushed her into new musical territory. With a new band behind her, Sharon has added synths & beefier percussion & has created possibly her most accessible record yet. There's a remarkable confidence to these songs & it feels like she's purposely stepping fully into the spotlight. We're massive fans of Sharon here at Reckless & we know her fans will love this new sound. RECOMMENDED!

ARE WE THERE (BLACK VINYL)
Jagjaguwar
Sharon Van Etten's 2012 album "Tramp" was a true breakthrough for the talented singer/songwriter & "Are We There" solidifies Van Etten & as legitimate force in contemporary music. The songs move with ease between ballads & rockers & every song has a rich drama. The album does feel like a logical extension of "Tramp" & for many reasons PJ Harvey's "Stories From the City, Stories from The Sea" kept popping into this reviewers head the first time through. Van Etten's voice has a longing to it that can really pull on your heart strings, similar to Chicago ex-pat Angel Olsen & at times on "Are We There", Van Etten even reaches a Neko Case level (the highest level?) of emotion with her incredible voice. Without a doubt, this is going to be on many 2014 year end lists. AMAZING.

EPIC
Ba Da Bing
EPIC is the 2nd album from SHARON VAN ETTEN and it's a heartwrenchingly intimate yet brazenly confident. VAN ETTEN's powerful and beautiful voice are backed by excellent musicanship (including great country-flavored pedal steel & piano) that ought to appeal to fans of NEKO CASE, JOAN BAEZ or any truly classic singer-songwriter icons. Truly classic material that cement her status as a major force.

TRAMP (W/ DOWNLOAD)
Jagjaguwar
Since the release of "Epic," Sharon Van Etten has opened the Pitchfork Music Festival, played the Hollywood Bowl with Neko Case and at Radio City Music Hall with The Antlers, sung on new records for Beirut and Ed Askew, and collaborated with Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and Megafaun on the Songs Of The South project. How it is Van Etten isn't a household Name is beyond us. With the grainy vocal texture of PJ Harvey, the understated delivery of Chan Marshall and the concentrated energy of Anna Calvi, Van Etten is a testament to what consistency and a clear vision can create. Contributions on "Tramp" reflect a regular "who's who" of indie-rock artisans like Matt Barrick (Walkmen), Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), Zach Condon (Beirut), Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), Julianna Barwick, and Aaron Dessner (the National).
