WYE OAK
LOUDER I CALL, THE FASTER IT RUNS
Merge
WYE OAK's 5th album opens with a track called "(tuning)" which is what the track is comprised of, the sounds of musicians prepping for performance, sort of like the sounds of an orchestra tuning up. There are other hints of patchwork throughout the record, with small, audible edits throughout, like it's an early rough draft. It's a cool idea & it gives the record a loose feel. A lot of the drumming has a shuffle to it, reminding us of RADIOHEAD drummer Phil Selway's jazzy soft touch. Their electronic infused indie rock makes us think of BEACH HOUSE in a good mood i.e. not gazing at their shoes. Good stuff!
Available at: Broadway and Milwaukee Ave.
