TIRZAH and her collaborator MICA LEVI return to the club with "trip9love...?", trading out the stark, open spaces of "Colourgrade" for murky, claustrophobic beat music, giving TIRZAH's sultry soul delivery a certain unsettling menace. Individual tracks blend together with the same rumbling beat pattern, giving this the sense of a club set, but both TIRZAH and LEVI are able to create a lot of variance in melody, atmosphere and tone. The result is as excellent as it is strange. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

At this point, nearly 20 years after its release, MAXINQUAYE is one of the very very few 90s records no one has rediscovered. WHY IS THIS? Fresh out of MASSIVE ATTACK and sharing some of the same beats as PORTISHEAD, this record features an incredibly young MARTINA TOPLEY-BIRD, a PUBLIC ENEMY cover, and a SMASHING PUMPKINS sample. Tricky's whisper raps and Martina's crooning set the bar for every trip hop record to come. This record is amazing start to finish and deserves a spot in the collection of anyone who enjoys sex and/or drugs. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION EVER EVER EVER. BUY ME!!!

This is a reissue of the debut album by the duo of French sister Danielle & Didier Jean. It was originally released in 1992 & it still sounds incredibly modern today. High fidelity digital sounds & wordless singing & a very dreamy atmosphere that reminds us a lot of 80s Japanese city pop, Enya & Kate Bush. SUPER COOL!

Named after the Southern region of Germany, and the decongestant VON SUDENFED this is an equally interesting pairing of talent. MARK E. SMITH (of the FALL) and the gents in MOUSE ON MARS have teamed up to create a glichy, synth album inspired after their initial collaboration on the 12" version of "Wipe That Sound." The two styles of post-techno and rock collide in a smattering of clean vocals pasted over intense, electronic arrangements. All is not hectic and mind melting, the last track (as is the case on a few of the MOUSE ON MARS albums) is a very soothing parting gift from the group. Definately did not see this one coming, but we are all glad it did. CHECK THIS OUT!

The first album from Vancouver punks WHITE LUNG since 2016's "Paradise" is also (apparently) their last. Sad news, but the group has not lost any energy or sense of grandeur, supporting their vicious emo punk with bright pop synth arrangements and nimble guitar work, at times honestly reminds us of PARAMORE. Good stuff!
