Soulful grab-bag of sounds from Charlie Wilder, aka CAPTAIN PLANET, running the gamut of Latin funk, dub, psychadelic disco and Afrobeat. Featuring a long list of collaborators, this should appeal to the fans of beat tape excursions on Stones Throw from STIMULATOR JONES and MNDSGN.

"Pass Like Pollen" is the debut album from Chuck Moore's CARTALK project. A nice mix of folky indie rock tunes that remind us of everything from Phoebe Bridgers to RAINER MARIA & Juliana Hatfield's early albums.

DOSE ONE, ODD NOSDAM & WHY? are three of hip-hop most unique and most envelope-stretching voices, and with their cLOUDDEAD project (6 10" Mush releases, each with a different producer/dj), they're taking some of their most advanced musical leaps. While it's questionable at times how much "hip-hop" remains in the process, it's perfectly clear that these three have little interest in preserving genre-trappings at the expense of making vital, personal music. So, they take hip-hop as their jump-off point (as well as 60s avant-pop & beat poetry, and whatever else they can annex into their sound), rather than as a set of rules of procedure. The result is that they create music that you are unlikely to have ever heard before, though it bears resemblance to things you may be familiar with. In contrast to #5, this last CLOUDDEAD is chock-full of words, including perhaps the first-ever backwards rap. Great, minimal found-sound beats courtesy the BAY CITY ANIMALS.

You're Not Supposed To Like This Record was recorded in Nashville at Butcher Shoppe Records(owned by John Prine). This record was then mixed at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville(pioneered by the legendary "Cowboy Jack" Clement of Sun Records fame).
