Day Breaks is in some ways a return to Jones' debut, but it's also the feeling of a new thing. Something you feel almost completely at home with right away, like it's always been there, even on your first listen.

Norah Jones returns with her second effort for Blue Note records after winning like 1,000,000,000 grammy awards for her debut record. Norah hasn't messed with her formula much for the 2nd record, but fans will not be dissapointed with this record. Features her take on Townes Van Zandt's "Be Here to Love Me", Tom Waits' "Long Way Home" & a re-working of Duke Ellington's "Melancholia" w/ new lyrics by Norah. Her simple approach to these songs & her originals are a refreshing in this era of pitchfixing & obnoxious over production. Overall, an excellent follow up & proof that Norah Jones is the real deal.

With the help of producer DANGER MOUSE, NORAH JONES injects her tuneful jazz pop with fuzz, psych, and trip-hop, coming on like a cross between Dusty Springfield and The Black Keys. To paraphrase Neil Young, this is Norah's "Ditch" album. Recommended.
