When he gave a speech inducting the Band into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Eric Clapton said that after he heard their debut album, Music from Big Pink, he wanted to join the group, the fact that they already had a guitarist in Robbie Robertson notwithstanding. As a result, the album is a good purchase for fans of Bob Dylan and the Band, but not necessarily for those of Clapton.

This previously unknown recording of John Coltrane with Eric Dolphy was only just discovered in 2017 in a box stored at the New York Public Libary. The set was recorded by Richard Alderson (who would later go on to work with Bob Dylan) who worked as an engineer at The Village Gate & he used the recording opporunity as a chance to test a new microphone. Considering this was only recorded with one mic, it sounds incredibly crisp. Elvin Jones is up pretty high in the mix but we can't see how that's a bad thing. Coltrane & Dolphy spar effortlessly with each other throughout the gig & it's truly magical to be able to hear this incredible document. RECOMMENDED OF COURSE.

Eric Copeland (Black Dice, Terrestrial Tones) returns in 2022 with more playfully deranged avant-pop. 'Spiral Stairs' is often funky with Eric's affinity for collaging samples from god-knows-where. Party music for adventurous listeners. RECOMMENDED
