We hope you had a good RSD and got all the titles that you wanted, but we still have loads of titles in stock. Some we might only have one, but there are loads of titles to choose from still at the moment.

If you do not see it on the list, it is gone. We have been known to get some titles back in, either from distributors or customer returns so it cannot hurt to check back once in a while. You never know what may show back up.

Dear web customers:

AS OF DECEMBER 6 2014, RECKLESS IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING MAIL ORDER OPERATIONS.

There are a number of factors that are complicating our ability to properly run the mail order operations and we have chosen to suspend operations for the time being. We are in the process of major repairs at one location and we will be moving another location to a new building in the coming months. These projects are making web sales untenable.

The website will still show our catalog of in-stock items but we WILL NOT SHIP ORDERS. The shopping cart will be disabled and WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ORDERS VIA TELEPHONE FOR SHIPMENT, EITHER. We are sorry, we know we have a lot of great regular customers but we have to maintain this as a hard and fast rule.

Since we have now moved into our new space, we will be working toward addressing web sales in the near future.

We will still sell GIFT CERTIFICATES for use in the shops, but they will not be redeemable online. We will refund anyone with a gift certificate who is unable to come into one of our shops in person.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we hope to be back up and running some time soon, after the dust (literally!) settles.

Moral
And Life Is... (reissue)
 cover
Dark Entries
Very welcome reissue of this 1984 album from the band MORAL out of Denmark. Their sound was a mix of minimal synth pop & post-punk of the era. Early 4AD & Factory bands are the main influence here & we can hear similarities to COCTEAU TWINS, WIRE, SECTION 25 & PYLON with some nice experimental touches from time to time. RECOMMENDED.

Matt Pond Pa
State Of Gold (2lp, 180g, Color Vinyl)
 cover
Doghouse
STATE OF GOLD is a bit of change for MATT POND PA Swapping the folky acoustic sound for some more beefy electronics, State of Gold holds onto enough of the signature sound of the band for old fans to love, & new fans to latch on. A daring approach, that allows the band to stretch out & grow, while sticking to their guns.

Self Defense Family
Heaven Is Earth (clear Vinyl) (w/ Download)
 cover
Deathwish
Dynamic second album from SELF DEFENSE FAMILY is post- punk in the FUGAZI vein, which we know is semi- blasphemy; to compare anyone to the mighty FUGAZI, but maybe it's their singer's voice. This was recorded byt FOUR different engineers: WILL KILLINGSWORTH, KURT BALLOU, MARK MILLAR & JON LOW. Sure to be a sleeper hit, keep your ears open for this one.

Organized Crime
If you're reading this, you must not be a poseur, because your eyes would have melted at the sight of this album. Reuniting the "For Those Who Were Crucified" lineup, New York's ALL OUT WAR once again deliver. This band really has it all: a hardcore foundation draped with blackened-death & riffage that would make OBITUARY blush. RECOMMENDED.

Roommate
Make Like (w/ Download)
 cover
Strange Weather
ROOMMATE began as a solo project for KENT LAMBERT and has been mutating ever since. This beautiful and haunting new album is very listenable, yet retains many avant-guarde elements that almost harken to WIRE or JOHN FOXX. Very accomplished and well-executed. Includes a download for the entire album. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

 cover
Jagjaguwar
10 years already?! See what we had to say in 2005 about this now-classic album. This edition comes with their "Druganaut" 12-inch & four previously-unreleased tracks! Debut album from BLACK MOUNTAIN--songwriter STEPHEN MCBEAN's brother to his PINK MOUNTAINTOPS other mother; it's a long-gone space probe built out of erector parts and melted down vinyl pressings of BLACK SABBATH, CAN, BLUE CHEER, LED ZEPPELIN, JAMES BROWN, RICHARD THOMPSON and one copy of Pink Floyd's "Animals." In short, it's a rock n'roll animal of it's own species that will remain atop of the food chain for sometime...RECOMMENDED.

Cairo Gang
Goes Missing
 cover
God?
Chicago/L.A. band CAIRO GANG are back with a new album in 2015. Emmett Kelly is known for his hot-shit guitar playing but he always keeps it tasteful. There's always been a retro sound in the CAIRO GANG's music & bands like THE BYRDS, THE BEATLES & FLAMIN' GROOVIES are easy comparisons to make but the band does a good job of adding enough contemporary (like GUIDED BY VOICES for example) sounds to the mix. Another amazing effort from Emmett & the band.

Baird, Meg
Don't Weigh Down The Light
 cover
Drag City
"Don't Weigh Down the Light" is the 2015 album from San Francisco via Philadelphia artist Meg Baird. The ex-ESPERS member is joined by San Francisco guitarist Charlie Saufley on a good deal of the record. Like her other albums, late 60's British folk artists such as Sandy Denny & Vashti Bunyan are good reference points but there's a subtle psychedelic element to the songs as well. RECOMMENDED.

Fashion Week
Pret-a-porter Pret A Porter (w/ Download)
 cover
Solar Flare
Noisy rock & roll from NYC that is quite heavy. Think NIRVANA, UNSANE, QUICKSAND. There's some sung passages, but thier vocalist also shreds his voice a lot of the time. He reminds us of the singer in HARVEST. Worth your time/money.

Dalek
From Filthy Tongue Of Gods & Griots (2015 Reissue, W/ Cd & Download)
 cover
Ici d'Alleurs
Finally back in print, but this is most likely super limited! Here's how much we loved this album back in 2002: Debut full-length from this New Jersey crew. A very very dark hip hop record. Explosive beats, mixed with dynamic scratching, and lyrics that are as far away from the popular hip-hop aesthetic of the day as possible. This album offers no hope, no ray of good times, and for that alone it should be in your collection. This group has collaborated with TECHNO ANIMAL, FAUST, & DISMEMBERMENT PLAN to name a few. Does that help? Of course not, so just buy it cuz it's R E C O M M E N D E D ! ! !

Jurassic 5
Quality Control (2lp, 2015 Reissue)
 cover
Get On Down
Here's what we had to say about this now-classic hip- hop album back in 2000! Needless to say, this beast is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! At long last, here's the followup to the classic J5 EP from a couple of years back, and let me tell you, my friends, the rapture is upon us. All the promise of that earlier work has come to full fruition. Four MC's laying down harmonious rhymes while CUT CHEMIST & DJ NU-MARK cut it up oldstyle. It's all about the breaks and the message, & this little gem has 'em in trumps.

Czarface (inspectah Deck, 7l & Esoteric)
Every Hero Needs A Villain (2lp) (colored Vinyl, W/ Comic Book)
 cover
Brick
YES YES! Second album from CZARFACE, which is WU-TANG's INSPECTAH DECK alongside 7L & ESOTERIC. This group has taken the concept of their anti-hero/wrestler Czarface to the next level on "Every Hero..." There's a song called "Lumberjack Match," fer chrissakes! Concept aside, this album is another Brick Records winner: funky, funky boom-bap hip-hop with a good sense of humor alongside fresh lyrics & guests like METHOD MAN, LARGE PROFESSOR, MF DOOM, GZA, RA THE RUGGEDMAN & more. If this isn't on several Best of 2015 lists we'll be very confused. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Available at: Broadway
New LP $24.99

State Champion
Fantasy Error (w/ Booklet & Poster)
 cover
Sophomore Lounge
2015 album from STATE CHAMPION! This band has been busting ass & it shows. The perfect mixture of violin- laced indie rock (think WILL OLDHAM or SMOG) but with a driving, TED LEO-ish, punk rock foundation. Very, very RECOMMENDED!
Available at: All Stores
New LP $12.99

Singleman Affair
End Of The Affair (w/ Download)
 cover
Cardboard Sangria
SINGLEMAN AFFAIR was once the bedroom project of DANIEL SCHNEIDER, but has grown to a full band with ADAM VIDA (U.S. MAPLE), GARY PYSKACEK, JACOB SMITH, and SAM WAGSTER (CAIRO GANG, FRUIT BATS). This is excellent psych-influenced songwriting with lots of energy and just the right unpretentious touch. EXCELLENT!

New LP $13.99

Fernandez, J.
Many Levels Of Laughter (clear Vinyl) (w/ Download)
 cover
Joyful Noise
2015 has been an excellent year so far for Chicago music. Ryley Walker released the excellent 60's British folk influenced "Primrose Green" & Haley Fohr delivered the best CIRCUIT DES YEUX album yet with "In Plain Speech." Chicagoan J. Fernandez adds another great record to the list with "Many Levels of Laughter." Recorded in Fernandez's apartment with mostly analog gear, "Many Levels.." is a carefully crafted & mature baroque pop record with hints of psychedelia & kraut rock. Think BROADCAST if they had fuzzy guitar solos or Jacco Gardner going down a Deutsch rock wormhole. RECOMMENDED!!

New LP $14.99

Camden, Ken
Dream Memory
 cover
Kranky
Reckless favorite, KEN CAMDEN (Implodes), is back with his 3rd full-length and it's every bit as beautiful as his previous releases. Experimenting with his electric guitar and guest vocals (EMILY ELHAJ & ANGEL OLSEN!!) he creates a free and flowing world of synth & strings that feels sometimes sci-fi and sometimes ambient bliss. You can always rely on CAMDEN to put you in a dreamy abyss, expanding your mind and glazing over your senses. He has an incredibly ability to make the old sound new and to make the spacey frequences feel soft and romantic. For fans of FRIPP & ENO, ROEDLIUS, WENDY CARLOS. RECOMMENDED TO THE EXTREME!

Circuit Des Yeux
In Plain Speech (cream Colored Vinyl) (ltd. Edition W/ Download)
 cover
Thrill Jockey
Chicago's Haley Fohr has been releasing records as CIRCUIT DES YEUX since 2008 & she made a major leap forward on her 2013 album "Overdue" by added additional players & instrumentation. Now on "In Plain Speech," Fohr has truly found her footing and has made her finest album yet. Fohr is deeply engulfed in the Chicago scene & she has gathered an impressive roster of her friends to help fulfill her vision including members of BITCHIN' BAJAS, FOUL TIP & VERMA. "In Plain Speech" is a very uplifiting & positivie album with soaring viola & woodwind swells, minimal electronica & 60's British folk inspired 12-string acoustic guitar playing. We hear hints of everything from Nico, Scott Walker, Yoko Ono, Fairport Convention & even a bit of RADIOHEAD on the more experimental bits. This is a remarkable album & we couldn't be more proud of our local gal. RECOMMENDED!! Limited edition cream colored vinyl pressing.
