THE WICKER PARK STORE HAS MOVED!! We had many good times at 1532, but we've moved onto bigger & better things down the street at 1379 N Milwaukee.

=====

Dear web customers:

AS OF DECEMBER 6 2014, RECKLESS IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING MAIL ORDER OPERATIONS.

There are a number of factors that are complicating our ability to properly run the mail order operations and we have chosen to suspend operations for the time being. We are in the process of major repairs at one location and we will be moving another location to a new building in the coming months. These projects are making web sales untenable.

The website will still show our catalog of in-stock items but we WILL NOT SHIP ORDERS. The shopping cart will be disabled and WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ORDERS VIA TELEPHONE FOR SHIPMENT, EITHER. We are sorry, we know we have a lot of great regular customers but we have to maintain this as a hard and fast rule.

Since we have now moved into our new space, we will be working toward addressing web sales in the near future.

We will still sell GIFT CERTIFICATES for use in the shops, but they will not be redeemable online. We will refund anyone with a gift certificate who is unable to come into one of our shops in person.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we hope to be back up and running some time soon, after the dust (literally!) settles.

Wilco
Star Wars
 cover
Anti
It has been a solid 20 years since WILCO'S debut album, A.M., was released and we think it's safe to say they haven't disappointed since. The hype keeps coming too and most especially with their 2015 release, Star Wars. There's a lot of familar sounds here, the breezy, care-free signature WILCO melodies, but a few new sounds as well. Fuzzed-out guitars and a bit more of a solid rock vibe hint that maybe they're veering into new territory. Whatever these guys do, we're along for the ride.

Heresy
Heresy
 cover
Polar
Debut EP from this all-female hip-hop crew, led by MONIE LOVE but alongside CAROLINA DIRTY, DOMINIQUE LAURE & MYVERSE. What else can we say? Funky, lyrical material produced by J. RAWLS (save for the opening track, which was produced by MISTA LAWNGE of BLACK SHEEP) that is definitely RECOMMENDED!
Available at: Milwaukee Ave. and Loop
New LP $14.99

Pounder (4 Trks, Screened B-side)
 cover
Sidipus
Four-song 2015 EP from NUCLEAR ASSAULT, who now have ERIK BURKE (ex-BRUTAL TRUTH, SULACO, BLURRING, etc) on second guitar alongside LILKER, CONNELLY & EVANS. Three heavy, dare we say POUNDING thrash tracks & then a slower tune to cap it off. We're looking forward to the final full-length! RECOMMENDED.
Available at: Milwaukee Ave. and Loop
New LP $21.99

Sweet Cobra
Earth (w/ Download)
 cover
Magic Bullet
Fourth album from local favorites SWEET COBRA sees them doing what they've always done: surprise us! Since "Praise" was released in 2004, this band has grown in such a lovely way. Now we have the perfect combo of their early, heavy skronk but with a hefty dose of vocal melody & tunes that - gasp - inspire some toe-tapping! If you just like to read other band's names, think BARONESS, KYLESA, etc. Ex-ROUNDHOUSE & HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Available at: All Stores
New LP $15.99

Golden Rules (paul White & Eric Biddins
Golden Ticket (2lp)
 cover
Lex
Excellent collaboration between PAUL WHITE (who you might know from working fairly extensively with DANNY BROWN) & Florida's ERIC BIDDINES, a talented singer & MC whose voice really reminds us of ANDRE 3000 (OUTKAST). Smooth, funky stuff from Lex Records, one of the best forward-thinking hip-hop-ish labels. Only one guest verse on this whole album, too, from YASIIN BEY (MOS DEF). RECOMMENDED.
Available at: Milwaukee Ave. and Loop

Melk En Honing (2lp)

Housecore
Third album of hammering drone from AUTHOR & PUNISHER, who if you don't know, is one man (TRISTAN STONE) who creates all of this racket on FUCKING MACHINES HE BUILT HIMSELF. The comparasions to GOD- FLESH are obvious, but AUTHOR & PUNISHER is still creepier. On Philip Anselmo's Housecore label!

Sunn O)))
Black One (2lp, 2015 Pressing) (clear Vinyl)
 cover
Southern Lord
With Sunn O)))'s sixth album, their trademark "thunder under a pillow" ambient doom allows a little more treble to shine through the mix. This is nothing to my dark ones, the treble is derived from a source most evil. The murk is still present, and tortured howls rise from the darkness, courtesy of Wrest (LEVIATHAN, LURKER OF CHALICE) & Malefic (XASHTHUR, TWILIGHT). This is a nice development for SUNN O))); it alters the formula in a naturalistic way that will keep diehards interested & probably will gain them many a metal fan. **This vinyl version is soooo deluxe! the gatefold** **sleeve is gorgeously evil. Do not sleep on this** 2015 clear vinyl reissue.
Available at: All Stores
New LP $28.99

Sunn O)))
Oo Void (2lps, 180grm Reissue, Black)
 cover
Southern Lord
SUNN O)))'s 2000 album "OO Void" is back! Greg Anderson & Stephen O'Malley rise up from the remains of Burning Witch, Goatsnake and Thor's Hammer create the mighty Sunn O))). Named after the powerful amplifiers they employ, "OO Void" is a sprawling mess of side long tracks that displays the group's tenacious "Power Ambient" drones, not unlike Earth and the Melvins (whom they cover here), but also recalling the Minimalist aesthetics of Tony Conrad and Lamonte Young. Sick!

Sleaford Mods
Key Markets (imp, Green Vinyl)
 cover
Harbinger Sound
The Nottingham duo of SLEAFORD MODS return with their 3rd proper album for 2015. More punk word poetry set to bass and drum rhythms, dealing with the disorientation of modern existence. SLEAFORD MODS always manage to make everything else sound pretentious, desperate and over-reaching wannabes. Still as vital as they were out of the starting gate. SLEAFORD MODS have done it again, BETTER THAN EVER!
Available at: Milwaukee Ave.
New LP $22.99

Frank, Jackson C.
Complete Recordings Vol. 3 (2lps) Marlene/ Recordings: 1990
 cover
Ba Da Bing
Ba Da Bing has hooked us up with this reissue of the complete recordings by the mythic folkie Jackson C. Frank. Mr. Frank's story is rather dark we're afraid. When he was a child, his school burned to the ground & 15 of his classmates were killed. He received a hefty payout which he eventually blew on fancy cars & an extravagant lifestyle in London where he moved to after receiving the money. While in London Frank started hanging with the folkies including members of FAIRPORT CONVENTION & BERT JANSCH. He did quite well in the scene & eventually was asked to record a solo album which was produced by Paul Simon. The album wasn't received very well & soon after Frank's mental health began to decline. This deep collection features his debut album, some single tracks, material from an unreleased 2nd record & many other recordings from throughout his life, all thoughtfully remastered. Frank's songs have been covered by SIMON & GARFUNKEL, Bert Jansch & FAIRPORT CONVENTION among others & his wonderful 'downer' songs should appeal to fans of Bert Jansch, Nick Drake & Townes Van Zandt. Do yourself a favor & check this out. **The vinyl editions are split into three separate** **volumes."**
