"Souvenirs" is the first vocal album from the late Ethiopian pianist & composer Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru. She is best known for her instrumental piano recordings that highlight her classical inspired take on Ethiopian traditional music so it's really cool to hear her playing & singing together. Like most of her other albums, the recordings are lo-fi & intimate with sounds of the city & birds floating through the window allowing you to imagine what it must have sounded like in the room when she made these recordings between 1977-1985. We're so excited that there's more of her music out there to hear. RECOMMENDED.

Back in the late 1970s, the Space Lady played pop songs on her accordion on the streets of San Francisco. After somebody stole her accordion, the Space Lady invested in a Casio keyboard & continued to perform hits & a few originals. Eventually she got around to making some recordings & self-released "The Space Lady's Greatest Hits" on cassette. This LP collects some of these recordings on vinyl for the first time & the Space Lady even provided some liner notes for the insert. Word 'on the street' is that the Space Lady is performing again & might even tour in Europe. These recordings are really charming & sound remarkably like something that would come out on Not Not Fun or 100% Silk right now. Really cool stuff. Reissue with poster insert.

It's easy to forget sometimes that the legendary Pacific Northwest musician Fred Cole was making music as far back as the early 60s. His first band THE WEEDS starting playing in the early/mid 60s then changed their name to THE LOLLIPOP SHOPPE & released a few singles & one fantastic LP of top notch garage rock featuring the minor hit "You Must Be a Witch" on Uni Records in 1968. This compilation features their album (now back under the original name THE WEEDS) & two 7"s of extra tracks. RECOMMENDED.
