Three pieces/suites involving RHYS CHATHAM, BEN NEILL, TAKEHISA KOSUGI and DAVID BEHRMAN. Layered liquid sounds utilizing a complex computer musci system which hears the sounds of instrumentalists and plays off their improvisations.

Finally, the heavily buzzed about album by the British band BIG PINK is upon us. The band has been slowly releasing singles building to this release the ways bands used to do it. (Most labels seem to have forgotten this strategy.) BIG PINK have a BIG sound though their songs are fairly basic & straight-forward. Imagine if PHOENIX took "Wolfgang Amadeus..." & drenched it in tons of MY BLOODY VALENTINE esque digital noise & distortion & replaced the drums with drum machines. There's a few legitimate 'hits' on this album though they'll probably only make it onto the charts in the U.K. The shoegaze revival seems to be on the way down but BIG PINK may be the last band to successfully revive this sound before it goes the way of the dodo...again.

One of the best records to ever self destruct while it was made. Powerful meloncholic pop brilliance.

James Blackshaw is an incredibly talented musician & the albums that he's created with 12 string guitar & solo piano feature some of the most interesting instrumental music released in the past few years. "Love is the Plan..." is the first album where Blackshaw primarily uses a 6 string nylon string guitar & we're incredibly impressed with his playing & the tones that he's achieved. One track features Genevieve Beaulieu on vocals backed with Blackshaw's minimalist piano playing. Blackshaw claims to be a Judee Sill fan & the track reminds us a little of that. Fans of everything from Leo Kotke to Erik Satie will love this album.

This second record from Chicago's own Jess Viscius and BNNY is a turn around from the stark heartbreak of the band's debut with songs about love, lust and romance built on rich, gauzy arrangements that recall ALVVAYS, SNAIL MAIL and (for an older vintage) MAZZY STAR.
