2011 official debut for CHILDISH GAMBINO, aka DONALD GLOVER from that show "Community." GAMBINO has dropped a few mixtapes already, but this record marks his first real album. His style shifts all over the place on this from positive, LUPE FIASCO-style jams to more aggressive LIL WAYNE-esque bangers to electro- influenced dancefloor jams.

Chicago's Haley Fohr has been releasing records as CIRCUIT DES YEUX since 2008 & she made a major leap forward on her 2013 album "Overdue" by added additional players & instrumentation. Now on "In Plain Speech," Fohr has truly found her footing and has made her finest album yet. Fohr is deeply engulfed in the Chicago scene & she has gathered an impressive roster of her friends to help fulfill her vision including members of BITCHIN' BAJAS, FOUL TIP & VERMA. "In Plain Speech" is a very uplifiting & positivie album with soaring viola & woodwind swells, minimal electronica & 60's British folk inspired 12-string acoustic guitar playing. We hear hints of everything from Nico, Scott Walker, Yoko Ono, Fairport Convention & even a bit of RADIOHEAD on the more experimental bits. This is a remarkable album & we couldn't be more proud of our local gal. RECOMMENDED!!
